Dino Rock

Rockam got his longtime wish fulfilled today... He got to join in Stephen's preschool class for their track or treat parade downtown and the class party afterward. It dawned on me last night that Rockam might enjoy dressing up as well. That lumpy green sock appendage is supposed to be a tail!

Astronaut Steve Headstrong

After not crocheting for nearly a year, decided to make Stephen a costume accessory :)

Preschool Field Trip

Stephen's school had a field trip at Christian Way Farm, which is owned by our friends, Janie and Milt Corley. It's one of Stephen's favorite places. Above, Stephen's entire preschool class poses in the corn truck... much more fun than a sandbox, but I'll be finding corn kernels in my dryer for weeks.

Stephen said hello to some old friends.

Fun inside the twin tunnels.

Oh, funny meeting you here.

Can I get this thing to roll?

Okay, I'm ready to get out now.

We rode the hay ride to the pumpkin patch and picked out portable pumpkins.
Clyde the dog went with us. I got a dose of all my favorite allergens in one day!

Inside the hay castle. You can see it in the distance in the first group shot.

Rockam looks like a marching hay castle guard.

They also got to ride the tractor train.

And... it didn't take long for the back seat to look like this on the way home.

Visit from Grammy

Stephen and Rockam had their first overnight without Joe and I at the end of Fall Break. We got to attend a great conference on discipling, and the boys had lots of fun with Grammy.

Another fun part about Fall Break was a visit from Grammy, and later Gramps.
The brothers got along for the most part.

On Sunday, after Joe and I returned from the conference, we took a walk at Jeffers Bend.

Rockam kept trying to escape from our photo ops.

He was much more interested in throwing leaves.

He's fully aware of how cute he is.

Rockam could throw leaves all day.

Stephen is better at posing for a portrait.

Next, we took a little hike. Stephen found a very big stick.
Rockam tried to eat something he found on the ground.
Me: "No, Rockam! YUCKY!"
Rockam: "Mmmm Ha ha ha!"

So much for a little hike. It was longer than we expected and both boys wanted to be carried halfway through.

The next day, Gramps came and made a big pile for Stephen.

Gerald got in on the action.

Stephen learned the joys of throwing leaves at people.

He also got some major air on the trampoline.

Stephen loves fall!

Fall Break at the Zoo

Over fall break, it was Stephen's turn to bring home the class giraffe, Gerald. Stephen's assignment was to take Gerald fun places and record their story in the class Gerald Journal.  First, Stephen wanted to review Gerald's story with him.

Stephen helped Gerald find some lunch in the front yard... and tried to pinch a ladybug along the way. Stephen says that Gerald liked the hosta leaves best.

But he also tried the Southern magnolia, the redbud and the silver maple.

After Gerald was full from his leaf lunch, Daddy took Stephen and Gerald kite flying across the street at St. John United Methodist Church. They have a nice big grassy area.

The highlight of fall break was a trip to the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere. Gerald helped Stephen navigate.

Stephen and Rockam loved the funny noises that the Gibbons made. They were a lot crazier than Curious George.

They also spent a good bit of time watching the Meerkat exhibit. The meerkats spent a good deal of time watching us too.

Stephen and Rockam both took a turn in the tunnel to get a feel for what its like to be a meerkat.

Gerald's highlight of the trip was meeting his own kind.

The fun day ended with a ride on the carousel. Stephen chose the giraffe in honor of Gerald, who was too little to ride.

More of the Obey book

Hi, friends. I've started another blog about books. Mainly as a place to share some of the pages I've been working on for Stephen and Rockam's "Obey" book. If you'd like to see what I've got so far, check it out! http://parrinobooks.blogspot.com.
