Fort with friends

Stephen was carrying around his three friends, Beige Kitty, Black Kitty and Doggie today in one big hug bundle. When I saw him bring them under the metal storage shelf, I decided to help them make a fort.

Founders Square fountain

Visit from Nona and Papa

We spent two nights on Lake Barkley when Joe's parents visited the week after Grammie came. Stephen is our budding birdwatcher.
He also got to watch the bison from the car.
He wasn't sure he really liked getting up close and personal with some antlers.
But he did enjoy playing with some vintage Playmobil toys. Stephen's face in this photo says: "What? I thought this is what it was for." He had climbed onto the coffee table and into the fort himself.

Visit from Grammie

Grammie visited at the beginning of the month, bringing with her a bunch of hostas from their own garden. I remember those hostas on the side of their Warington Lane house... it seems pretty much since we moved there when I was five. They'd send up spikes of purple buds in late summer. I used to like to pop them before they bloomed. Or swat them as I rollerskated along the path to the back patio. I'm much kinder to plants these days. :-) In fact, I plan to take very good care of the new row of hostas she planted along our fence.
Stephen liked helping. He still says "Mammie?" when we look at the green and white striped leaves unfurling.
