Family day in Greenville

The weather Saturday was perfect. Joe didn't have to go into work until the evening. And it's peak leaf peeping season in Kentucky.
So, we drove up to Greenville where they were having a fall festival on their main drag. Vendors sold apple cider and fried pies, kettle corn, chili and other snacks. We enjoyed ours in the grass while a local bluegrass band performed al fresco.

Sippin'

Stephen has learned to drink from a straw... and to backwash. I liked this shot, not because it's very good quality, but because of the look of determination on Munchie's face.

Stephen at New Spring

Stephen had a blast running around New Spring Thrift Store, opened about two weeks ago by our friends Ryan and Emily Chappelear. Here he's goofing off with the manager, Wes.

New Spring is in the strip mall by Big Lots and Dollar General. It supports Africa For Jesus and Hopkinsville charities like Boys and Girls Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Swing suspense

I've finally caught on video Stephen's reaction to near collision with my face.

A train for Tilsch

Guest post from Joe: We had a fantastic visit from Emily's cousin John Tilsch on his way to a class reunion in Nashville. First we chowed down on authentic Kentucky-style barbecue and somehow found room for three pies and gourmet coffee. Then Steve turned on the charm. He offered his train to John and made him play with it. What at first seemed like a simple show of hospitality quickly turned into an attempted trade when Stephen grabbed for JOhn's watch.
John stayed until 9 p.m. sharing his plans for the future. We were so happy for all the good things in his life. After he left, we prayed for him asking the Lord to protect him on all his adventures and to connect him with caring people.

Farmer and the Steve

I've been very lucky to have Joe guest posting lately... and he's also become my photographer. And he's the one doing all the cool stuff, like riding in a combine for a corn harvest... so today we have yet another wonderful collection of moments, courtesy of Huz.

Stephen looking like a big boy after his combine ride at Ben Payne's farm. He was happy the whole day after his trip to the farm. You can see how pleased he is here.

Poke you! Poke you!

High chair hijinks

Guest Post from Joe: I had the day off Friday so Stephen and I had our first full day together. We played trucks and watched Veggie Tales. At lunch time, Stephen acted drowsy and just pushed his broccoli around the tray. It was time for a wake-up tickle and his feet were the easiest target.

Flee youthful laughs

Stephen makes for a very cute psychopath. He could bludgeon me with a wooden spoon and I would still want to cuddle with him.

Walking pro

After being carted around the Paducah BBQ festival all afternoon, Munchie was ready for some green space. We let him loose on the lawn of the Quilter's Museum.

I have a good excuse, really...

And several not so good excuses. The good excuse for why this post is so late is that I fractured by finger and it's been difficult to use the computer. the other excuses are simply that i kept meaning to post and running out of time or energy.

I'm just now learning to type with my splint...
I guess it's possible, just not as easy.

OK, so Mom and I met up in Paducah last weekend for some mom-daughter-grandson time and for some delish barbecue.
