Beach Boy

Stephen and I looked for shells our first morning at the Commodore condominium at the quieter end of Panama City Beach's main drag, Thomas Drive.

He was very happy.

Joe bought the boys this enormous pail. When filled with sand, it was so heavy that Stephen had to drag along the beach.

The view from the boardwalk connecting our condo with the beach.

Stephen hosed himself off before we went back up to our unit.

As a side note, I really like the Commodore. It's perfect for families because of its easy beach access, fenced in kiddy pool with 2 foot depth and super friendly staff. Seriously, everyone here, from the security and parking attendant to the pool cleaner, is very nice.

Huntsville Space Center

On our way to Panama City, we spend the afternoon and night in Huntsville. Here, Stephen and Evan are working out equations to determine how to get to Mars.

Stephen liked the robots.

Rockam liked the xylophone.

And, trapsing about as if he were one of the big kids.

"If brother's doing it, I gotta do it too!"

"Ahhh! I got it!"

This is such a neat picture... just pretend the random girl in the purple shirt is part of our collective clan.

Catching up

So, I'm very behind on posting some of these shots from the end of last month and the beginning of June. But the double entendre is that each of these photos shows how Rockam is catching up to his big brother--or at least he tries to!

Playing tent together. Right after this photo Rockam caused the whole thing to collapse, much to Stephen's ire.

Watching a hailstorm together.

Being "super" together.

Rockam always enjoys being Stephen's side-kick!

Louisville Waterfront Park

On Friday we tagged along with Joe and his Tiger Law Club on a trip to Louisville. While the students were mingling with supreme court justice Sandra Day O'Connor, the boys and I went to a seemingly endless park on the riverfront.

Stephen chases ducks up and down a big hill, with Rockam trying to keep up.

Still trying to get those ducks. Rockam has decided he'll just watch.

Rockam got right in to the splash fountains and enjoyed picking up fallen leaves.

Though he tried to sneak away a few times, his wet footprints always led me right to him.

Stephen thought it was a little too cold to get too close to the water.

All dried off after the water play, we took a walk along the river front.

For lunch, we and Joe's students went to Gatti's Pizza in Elizabethtown. Rockam like the Bob the Builder ride.

Babes in Farmland

After picnicking with the Couchmans at a nearby park, they invited us out to a family member's property in the county. Not only were there animals to see but also babies.

Rockam liked the chickens, but they didn't like him.

Rockam liked the cows, but they didn't like him either.

We hurdled an electric fence to get close to this 4-month-old calf. Stephen tossed cabbage leaves at it like a Frisbee.

Stephen and Evan were smitten by these two kittens. I cringed every time they scooped them up and applied a loving chokehold.

Stephen just loves kittens! Too bad.
