April catch-up

Sorry I've been a blog slacker lately. Here's some of the things we've been up to:
Celebrating with friends at the beginning of the month: a Lego birthday party with Stephen's classmate.

Asian food night with friends Tiffany, Alondo, Sebastian and Maria.

Stephen and Rockam and Maliyah wait for the grown ups to finish their spring rolls, curry and pancet so we can go out for fro-yo!

Cruisin' with Ollie

I let Oliver out of his car seat as we waited for Stephen after school. He loves looking out windows.

He's also begun to pull up in his crib and cruise along the couch and futon.

But still no interest in crawling...

Weekend fun

Who says you can't whip out bathing suits in early April?

And don't even think of getting laundry folded, Mom!

Playground day

To enjoy the nice weather, the boys and I went to the playground. Stephen pushed Ollie in the swing.

New house color...

Today, one of our friends and his crew began painting our house's exterior.

Goodbye, dingy yellow! What do you think?

Oliver's 9 month appointment

My baby starting to take after his big brothers:

17 lbs 9.5 oz (8th percentile)
27 inches (11th percentile)
Head circumference 41st percentile

Hemoglobin count was excellent, so not anemic :)

Tennessee Aquarium with Ollie

Oliver was in awe of seahorses, and the number of aquarium windows to which he was given banging access!

A leafy sea dragon for rocky -- he likes seahorses and sea dragons.

Oliver in the butterfly garden.

A Blue Morpho flies by Ollie's foot :)

Watching penguins.

Moon jellies.

Blustery walk over Market St bridge

Chattanooga touring

Mr. Fluffy takes the wheel :) Oliver and I waited in the car as Joe got tickets for the aquarium.

Chattanooga eating

"Crabtacular Pumpkin" at Sushi Nabe
Friday night. Tempura fried kombucha squash with spicy imitation crab on top. I like this a lot.

Caterpillar roll- tasty, but didn't taste freshly made-- a little too much sauce covering up the other flavors.

Buffet at Sitar Indian restaurant: I liked the dosa... Mildly flavored with the pleasant pop and crunch of toasted mustard seeds. Their naan was chewy like an unleavened bread. Chickpea salad was yummy, as was the okra. The aloo bangam had big chunks of eggplant. Other dishes like chicken tikka were not very fresh tasting... I think they recycled dried out tandoori chicken by dousing it with bland sauce.

Joe sniffing Sangre de Toro wine at Terra Nostra Tapas & Wine.

Cheese plate. Loved the chive and horse radish havarti and the manchengo (?) blue cheese was super moldy tasting and the three goat cheese was novel. Also the pimento cheese was unexpected and not remotely like southern pimento cheese spread. Swiss was just familiar Swiss cheese.

Foreground: prime beef olive and raisin empanada was Joe's favorite. Neither of us were crazy about the shrimp and avocado... Too rich and not enough bite, though the shrimp were fresh tasting and the avocado was perfectly ripe. Maybe a larger portion of greens would have helped.

Dates stuffed with blue cheese, cream cheese and bacon. Tasty and completely reproducible.

The best part: Mexican flan-- custardy smooth with the cocoa intensity of flour less chocolate cake, with a pinch of cayenne pepper.
