Stephen's Thanksgiving Program

Today was Stephen's Thanksgiving program and party at his kindergarten, Grace Episcopal. Stephen got to dress up like a pilgrim, something he's been excited about for weeks. Rocky got to play with unifix cubes... which eventually became swords that he and all the pilgrim boys used to fight each other.

Stephen looked sharp in his plaid shirt.

And the biggest news... Stephen participated in the program this time! Last year, he stood facing the wall the entire program. This year, he faced the audience and even did some of the hand motions. Maybe next year he'll learn to lip sync.

Ollie eventually conked out amid all the bustle.

Rocky had his typical brother envy.

He pulled himself up a chair (I helped him). Stephen didn't touch anything on his plate save his mini corn muffin and his cookie. I ate the rest; it was good.

Perhaps he was disappointed that the turkey wasn't cooked the way he envisioned it...

Oliver's 4 month check up

My poor baby got two shots in each leg and an oral vaccine. He only whimpered through the first two, but did purple scream at the end and got all limp in my arms. Mama's heart was breaking :(

But, the good news: Ollie is 15 lbs (41st percentile), 25 3/4 inches (70th percentile !!) and his head is finally catching up at 43 cm (61st percentile).

Popcorn art

Stephen wanted me to take a picture of the elephant he made out of popcorn.

That way, he could eat it.

My little artist

Stephen and I attended a fundraiser painting party last night at church. Stephen really enjoyed it and has been admiring his painting all day.

Ollie laughs his way to 4 months

Sorry, I did the vertical video again. I guess I'm just set in my flipcam ways.

Which superhero will it be?

So, this Halloween was a bit of a bust for a few reasons-- tornado producing whether kept everyone indoors. Rocky is battling a cold and didn't want to get out if bed -- I had to drag him to the car in his pjs with his favorite blanket and stuffed tiger. And then there's Stephen, aka the boy who couldn't make up his mind about which superhero he would be.

I was really holding out hope he'd want to be batman, as we have pjs, cape and mask already. However, about 20 before school, Steve declared he would be iron man, and then the challenge to create a costume from near scratch began.

Red superman pj pants? Got em. Red Christmas sweater? Why not? Red gloves? Check. Stephen insisted on blue lights for his chest and palms. These were cut from blue post it notes. Finally, I cut out the geometric shapes from yellow felt and sewed it to his red Spider-Man helmet that a crocheted several months ago. Stephen was pleased with his costume, save the lack of "blue light eyes," so out the door we went. Sorry, mom, I didn't take pictures. Here's a photo of another would-be costume: Stephen was pretending to be an insect. I don't really see it either!
