St. Patrick's Day party

Today was the st. Patrick's Day party at Stephen's preschool.
All the parents take turns doing the various parties, and this was my day.

I served zucchini muffins, green grapes, guacamole flavored tortilla chips, thin mint girl scout cookies, apple juice and chocolate chip cookies studded with green M&Ms. I know it sounds excessive for 10 in the morning, but each kid seemed to have only one or two things they liked from the "green buffet."

We also had a messy and chaotic rainbow craft.
Didn't have time to actually photograph the action!

And Rockam enjoyed pretending to be a preschooler while I set everything up.
He's sharing Stephen's chair in this shot.

Before eating, I tried to tell the kids about the real St. Patrick, as his story is pretty cool and never told during his namesake holiday. Leperchauns and good luck and pots of gold seem to be about all Stephen's class associates with St. Patrick's Day. I used Tomie DePaola's children's book about St. Patrick, but had to do some heavy duty paraphrasing. I tried to make the story interesting by saying Patrick was a young boy kidnapped by Irish pirates. :) It kept their interest for a whole 3 minutes.
